One year from today the next total solar eclipse will be visible from Queensland, Australia and...
Eclipse and Tasmania
After the eclipse in Queensland this tour takes you to Tasmania, Australia’s less visited state.
The lush green, mountainous island of Tasmania could hardly be a greater contrast with mainland Australia, with rivers, lakes and rugged mountains that make it appealing to those who love the outdoors. Over one third of the island is protected, either by World Heritage Area, national park or forest reserves. Our tour is a great overview of the historic towns, wilderness of the interior and rugged beauty of the coast.

Palm Cove
The village of Palm Cove is situated along the Pacific Coast just 20km north of Cairns. The beautiful palm fringed, sandy beach has won many awards and is a delightful place to wander. Once you've unwound on the beach, the restaurants and small shops along the main street might tempt you to linger and indulge. This relaxing place is a perfect base before the eclipse.
Cradle Mountain
This world heritage site is home to some spectacular peaks, deep gorges, lakes and wild moorlands. The national park contains one of the most glaciated areas in Australia as well as Tasmania’s highest mountain.
Port Arthur
This Tasmanian peninsula town became a penal settlement in 1830. Its name became a byword for cruelty and terror, but today this once foreboding peninsula is now filled with beautiful scenery and historical attractions that recapture Australia’s difficult beginnings.
Hobart
The small city of Hobart sits in a sheltered bay at the foot of Mount Wellington. The harbour is decorated with handsome Georgian warehouses that date from the city’s whaling heyday. Today those warehouses are filled with boutiques, cafes and galleries.
